From my perspective, you only get a few golden opportunities to be a part of world changing technology & media. The moment I experience VR for the first time, I was sold! Since then, I've been developing VR prototypes, exploring the medium through what other's have created, and following trends & news. It's safe to say that VR is now both my primary career focus and hobby. A quick glance at my desk - where a DK2, Vive Pre (thanks Gaben & Vision VR/AR Summit) and an Oculus CV1 all sit amidst pages of rough sketches & ideas - would be all the proof you'd need of my passion for the medium.
I joined Bardel Entertainment during a phase of expansion; the company was scaling from about 100 employees to over 600 at peak across several physical locations, producing 9 concurrent episodic properties. My work has included upgrading render & data infrastructure processes & management, hiring support staff & developers, identifying production needs, supervising development projects using common methodologies and overseeing key projects including a new 2D pipeline, studio-wide Shotgun rollout, multi-site asset management investigations and researching VR strategy for narrative content.
I've always been interested in the development of creative intellectual property. Crafting unique characters, environments & worlds; breathing life into them through the magic of technology is a very rewarding aspect of my career. Over the years, I've practiced my creative and technoligcal skills by creatinvg mood boards, pitch packages and playable prototypes. My favorite creation so far has been Pole Force One, a story about three super hero pole dancers who travel the world fighting for human right and social justice. I love being a part of IP creation, whether I'm creating my own properties or helping others.
The world of independent game development has exploded in recent years thanks to the rise of accesibility of game engines and remote work applications. Many of my colleagues have become globally recognized success stories through hard work, determination and passion. These people have inspired me to actively pursue my own success in this industry. I love indie game dev, whether it's creating Hextraction, a game concept created in 6 weeks to "test the waters" (now in active development) or just goofing around at the Global Game Jam resulting in Jet Pack Slaughter Dome after just 48 hours!
Ever since I was 15 years old, handing out flyers advertising my lawn cutting services in my rural home town, I've been interested in entrepreneurship. My dedication to this calling has yielded varying degrees of success over the years, including: Oak Computing, web development and media services for start-ups. Shameless Plug Media, my freelance brand which ran for 4 years, producing multimedia content. And more recently, ComboMash Entertainment, my independent game development and professional services business. I'm always open to collaboration and jumping into the exciting mix of start-ups!
